What should I do if my water pump does not forward water?

An e-pal asked what he should do if his submersible water pump does not forward water. It is a problem that often happens. Sometimes, you may find your water pump does not forward water, or just forward water intermittently, or forward too little water. We appreciate the question of our e-pal. Now, we are going to make a detailed analysis about this problem, and present some possible causes and troubleshooting methods.
Possible causes: 1) the motor is not started because of low voltage, cable too thin and too long, too much voltage drop, or water pump impellers got stuck, for instance. 2) The pipe line or the filter screen is clogged. 3) The pipeline is cracked. 4) The suction inlet reaches above water. 5) The submersible pump rotates reversely. 6) The wear-ring of impellers and the sealing ring are worn out. 7) The impellers are loose or clogged. 8) The rotor shaft becomes loose or the rotor bar is broken.
Troubleshooting: 1) check the electric circuit to find out the cause for motor failure and remedy it. 2) Clean off the clogging material. 3) Repair the cracking part. 4) Move down the submersible pump. If it still doesn’t forward water, may be what you need is beyond its lift range. We suggest you to change for another pump. 5) Exchange any two of the cable connections. 6) Replace new impellers and sealing rings. 7) Reinstall the impellers, clean off the clogging material. 8) Repair or replace the rotor.
