Water pump operators may find the read on current meter is beyond rated value, or the pointer of the meter swings back and forth, or the motor cannot be started but keeps booming, which indicates there is some problem with the bearing or shaft of the pump. This problem may be caused by different specific reasons. Each reason has its correspondent solution.
Problem: electric current too large or the pointer of electric current meter swinging back and forth.
Causes: 1) Excessive flow quantity and low pump head, both beyond the application range, leading to overload of motor. 2) The graphite pump bearing of the motor is worn, or the rubber bear of the pump or shaft sheath become worn out. 3) Thrust bearing worn out, impellers move downward. 4) Pump shaft bends, making the bearings not concentric.
Solution: 1) Reduce the flow quantity. Move the valve to return the flow quantity to rated value. 2) Change for a new bearing or shaft sheath. Check if the water in well contains too much sands. 3) Replace thrust bearing and thrust plate. 4) Send the bent shaft back to factory for maintenance, or replace a new bearing.
Problem: The pump motor cannot be started but keeps booming.
Causes: 1) guide line open-phase or switch open-phase (run with single phase). 2) Motor guide bearing journal sticking. 3) There is foreign object in the impellers or the pump body is stuck. 4) Voltage too low.
Solution: 1) Repair the break line, make up the fuse wire. 2) Remedy or replace the bearing. 3) Clean off the foreign body. 4) Adjust the voltage.
